Buy SOCKS5 proxies on every network, pay per GB
Residential, mobile, ISP, datacenter and IPv6 proxies all speak SOCKS5 as well as HTTP. Choose the network your target needs, pick SOCKS5 when you generate a line, and connect with a username and password.
SOCKS5 on every BuyProxy network
The protocol doesn't change the price. Pick the network by what your target accepts: residential or mobile for strict sites, ISP for speed with consumer IPs, datacenter or IPv6 for volume on open targets.
| Network | Protocols | From |
|---|---|---|
| Core Residential | SOCKS5, HTTP, HTTPS | $0.99/GB |
| Premium Residential | SOCKS5, HTTP, HTTPS | $2.99/GB |
| ISP Rotating | SOCKS5, HTTP, HTTPS | $1.49/GB |
| Mobile Proxies | SOCKS5, HTTP, HTTPS | $3.99/GB |
| Datacenter IPv4 | SOCKS5, HTTP, HTTPS | $0.99/GB |
| IPv6 Proxies | SOCKS5, HTTP, HTTPS | $0.29/GB |
Dedicated static ISP and IPv4 IPs, rented per IP, also support SOCKS5.
Connect over SOCKS5
Generate a line with the protocol set to SOCKS5 in the dashboard, the API or an SDK. Lines come as host:port:username:password, with the country and session baked into the username. Or paste the parts into our SOCKS5 config generator.
# curl: socks5h makes DNS resolve at the exit
curl -x socks5h://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT https://ipinfo.io/json
# Python (pip install "requests[socks]")
import requests
proxy = "socks5h://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT"
print(requests.get("https://ipinfo.io/json", proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}).json())SOCKS5 proxy questions
What is a SOCKS5 proxy?
SOCKS5 is a proxy protocol that relays any TCP connection (and UDP, where the proxy allows it) without reading or rewriting the traffic. An HTTP proxy understands web requests; a SOCKS5 proxy just forwards bytes, so it works for web traffic and for apps that don't speak HTTP.
SOCKS5 or HTTP: which should I use?
For ordinary web scraping and browsing, HTTP(S) proxies are simpler and every library supports them. Choose SOCKS5 when a tool only accepts SOCKS (some antidetect browsers, bots and desktop apps), when the traffic isn't HTTP, or when you want DNS lookups to happen at the exit with socks5h.
What's the difference between socks5:// and socks5h://?
With socks5h, the proxy resolves the hostname, so DNS lookups come from the exit location too. With socks5, your own machine resolves the name first. Use socks5h when the target serves different content by region or when you don't want local DNS queries to leak.
Are SOCKS5 proxies more anonymous than HTTP proxies?
Not by themselves. Through an HTTPS tunnel neither protocol adds identifying headers. What decides how a site sees you is the exit IP (residential, mobile, ISP or datacenter) and how your client behaves, not the protocol.
Is SOCKS5 included in the price?
Yes. SOCKS5 and HTTP cost the same; you pay per GB of traffic on the product you choose, from a $5 top-up, and credits never expire.

HTTP proxies handle only web traffic; SOCKS5 handles any TCP or UDP connection. Here is how to pick the right one for scraping, bots, or torrenting.
