What are premium residential proxies?
Premium residential proxies use the same kind of real, ISP-assigned home IPs as standard residential proxies, but they come from a filtered, higher-quality subset of the network and get routing priority. The goal is fewer flagged or burned addresses and more consistent behaviour on targets that are quick to challenge automation.
On BuyProxy, Premium Residential is a separate product from Core Residential, with its own balance and the same $5 minimum top-up as every product. It supports city-level targeting and sticky sessions, so you can hold one vetted IP through a multi-step flow.
It costs more per GB than Core, so it is worth buying only when a blocked request is expensive for you: a lost account, missing data, or a wasted retry cycle. For routine scraping against ordinary sites, Core Residential is usually the better value.
Premium or Core: when to pay more per GB
Judge each tier by cost per successful result, not cost per GB. Divide the price per GB by your success rate on the target. If Core Residential succeeds on 90 of 100 requests and Premium on 99, Premium only wins if the extra price is smaller than the value of the failures it prevents, such as a lost account, a missed pricing window or a re-run of a long job.
That is why Premium is a targeted upgrade rather than a default. For ordinary e-commerce pages and general scraping, Core Residential usually gives the better value; Premium earns its price on strict anti-bot targets and high-stakes flows.
Routing only the strict targets through Premium
Because Premium keeps a separate balance, you can route per domain: send the few targets that block Core through Premium and everything else through Core Residential. In code, that is usually a small mapping from hostname to proxy line.
A sensible workflow is to start every new target on Core, watch the failure codes for a short test run, and promote only the targets that return repeated 403s or CAPTCHAs. Our proxy error codes guide explains how to read those failures and how to tell an IP problem from a request-fingerprint problem.
What Premium does not change
Better IPs do not fix a bad request. Sites also look at headers, TLS behaviour and request patterns, so a script that does not look like a browser can still be blocked on a clean IP. Rate limits still apply, and Premium does not give you permission to ignore a site's terms or robots.txt.
Treat Premium as one input to reliability alongside realistic headers, sensible pacing and retry logic. Use it within the law, the target's terms and our acceptable use policy.

Premium Residential Proxies: frequently asked questions
What makes a residential proxy premium?
Filtering and routing. A premium pool is drawn from the same kind of real residential IPs, but vetted for reliability and given priority routing, plus finer-grained targeting. It is not a separate set of devices.
Are premium residential proxies worth the extra cost?
Only if a failed or blocked request costs you something. For routine scraping against normal sites, Core Residential is usually the better value. Compare cost per successful result, not cost per GB.
How much do premium residential proxies cost?
Premium Residential is billed per GB at the live rate on this page, with a $5 minimum top-up. It costs more per GB than Core Residential.
Is the Premium pool different from the standard pool?
No. Premium draws from the same underlying residential network, filtered to a higher-quality subset.
Can I use Core and Premium on the same account?
Yes. They are separate products with separate balances under one account, so you can send routine traffic through Core and reserve Premium for strict targets.
Do premium proxies support sticky sessions?
Yes. Premium's advantage is IP quality and routing during the session rather than session control itself.
Does my plan's GB work for Premium?
No. A plan's monthly GB is credited to your Core Residential balance. Premium has its own balance that you fund with a top-up.
Can I target a specific city?
Yes. Premium Residential supports country, state or city targeting (one level at a time), plus ASN, device type and exclusions. The available places are listed in your dashboard and through the API.
Is there a free trial?
BuyProxy doesn't run a free-trial period. What it does have is a low barrier to testing: pay-as-you-go top-ups start at $5, credits never expire, and new accounts that sign up with a major email provider get a one-time 100MB bandwidth bonus. That is enough to benchmark the network against your own targets before you spend real money.
How can I pay?
Pay-as-you-go top-ups can be paid by card (through Stripe) or with crypto (through NOWPayments). Monthly and yearly plans are card-only. Top-ups of 100 GB or more add a 10% bonus.
